Mandhana, Ghosh Power India to Statement Win Over Pakistan

India delivered an emphatic all-round display to see off Pakistan in a contest that showcased the depth and firepower of Harmanpreet Kaur's side. While the bowlers eventually stole the show, it was the batting unit that laid the platform, anchored by a fluent innings from Smriti Mandhana. She struck 68 off 44 deliveries, laced with nine boundaries and two sixes, finding her rhythm after India lost Shafali Verma cheaply inside the first over.

Mandhana's innings gave the middle order the freedom to play with intent, and Richa Ghosh made the most of the platform with a blistering cameo of 34 off just 17 balls, hitting five fours and a six at a strike rate of 200. Harmanpreet Kaur herself chipped in with a composed 36, ensuring India posted a total that always looked beyond Pakistan's reach. Jemimah Rodrigues and Uma Chetry endured quieter days, but the collective effort from the top and middle order meant the Pakistani bowlers had no respite throughout the innings.

Deepti Sharma's Match-Defining Spell

If the batting set the tone, it was Deepti Sharma who turned the game into a rout. The all-rounder was virtually unplayable with the ball, picking up five wickets to dismantle Pakistan's batting lineup, and she also produced a sharp run-out to compound the visitors' misery. Her spell ensured Pakistan never found any momentum while chasing, and the required rate spiralled out of control within a few overs.

Speaking after the match, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur credited her senior players for once again standing up when it mattered. She admitted there was some early pressure on the batting unit before her partnership with Mandhana settled things down. Harmanpreet also lauded Richa Ghosh's adaptability in the middle order and praised the team's sharp fielding, insisting that clean catching remains crucial in the shortest format. Pakistan captain Fatima Sana, on the other hand, was left to reflect on a difficult outing as her side struggles to find answers against a rampant Indian unit heading into the business end of the tournament.
