Shafali, Mandhana Fire India to 9-Wicket Win, Seal Series 2-0 vs Zimbabwe

India's women cricketers made light work of a modest Zimbabwe total on Tuesday, romping to a commanding nine-wicket victory that handed them an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ongoing bilateral series. Chasing a target of just 103, the hosts needed a mere 8.5 overs to complete the formality, with opener Shafali Verma and skipper Smriti Mandhana setting the tone from the very first ball.

The duo's opening partnership was nothing short of a batting masterclass, as the pair dismantled the Zimbabwean bowling attack with a blend of aggression and precision. Mandhana, leading from the front, remained unbeaten on 47, stitching together an innings laced with crisp drives and audacious strokeplay that left the visiting bowlers with no answers. Shafali matched her captain's intent, attacking the new ball with trademark fearlessness and ensuring the required run rate never became a concern.

Dominant Display Seals Series

With the series already in the bag, India's batters showed no signs of easing off, treating the chase almost as a training drill against a struggling Zimbabwean side. The bowlers had earlier done the hard work, restricting the tourists to a below-par total and leaving the chase a formality for the in-form top order. CricketBuzz understands that the think tank will now look to experiment with the squad combinations in the dead rubber, giving fringe players a chance to impress.

This victory extends India's dominant run in the series and reinforces the growing depth and firepower of their batting unit. As CricketBuzz reported earlier this week, the management has been keen on building momentum ahead of upcoming assignments, and this clinical show will only boost confidence within the camp.
